FIAT-IFTA Secretary treasurer Dirk van Vuure Jr. visited AFE-Asia Funeral and Cemetery Expo & Conference 2013

The 6th Asia Funeral Expo and Conference (AFE), was successfully held in Hall 1AB of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 16-18 May. AFE is the largest annual event for the funeral and cemetery industry in Asia Pacific and has received overwhelming responses with more than 110 exhibitors from 17 countries and 2710 recognized delegates and buyers from 34 countries attending. The exhibitors of AFE are 100% world exporters and ready for international trades.

AFE features a full spectrum of activities such as conferences, products showcase and social programs. Among the functions, AFE Awards 2013 was the highlighted as it is for recognizing funeral enterprises which continuously achieve higher corporate portfolio.

This year, 9 corporations, Flying Home & Mount Vernon from Singapore, Fu Shou Yuan from China, LifeArt & Tobin Brothers from Australia, NV Multi Asia from Malaysia, Sage and Wing Nim from Hong Kong, had rewarded during the International Night cum AFE Awards Presentation Ceremony on 16 May, with their products and presentations displayed at the fairground.

AFE gathered 24 top speakers from 10 countries to present 24 sessions with topics around Green Funeral, Cemetery and Funeral Corporate Development. Among all, the theme ‘New Opportunities’ was spotlighted and discussed by speakers from Australia, Bolivia, Malaysia and the States; to share their experiences and insights based on their business development path during International Summit. Also FIAT-IFTA organized the Asia Pacific Repatriation Forum. On-site Classroom was another non-omissible feature. Florist demonstration, discolored skin Cover, embalming and facial reconstruction, online environmental casket making, will be presented by representatives from Australia, Korea, Taiwan, the States and U.K. respectively during the 3 show days.

Korea has been selected as focus country of AFE 2013. AFE committee believes Korea can promote modern and environmental funeral services while reserving her customs and rituals. Its concept of ‘Green Funeral’ will definitely give an insight to international industry players.
