The Oscars of the UK Funeral Trade

Can you have an awards ceremony for the people who work in the funeral industry? Of course you can, says the Good Funeral Awards Foundation. Well, at least in the United Kingdom.

There will be an award ceremony held on Saturday 5 September, 2015. At King Alfred campus at the University of Winchester. The Good Funeral Awards recognize outstanding service to the bereaved.
Nominations for the 2015 Awards are now open.
Nominations are invited in the following categories:

  •  Most Promising New Funeral Director
  •  Embalmer of the Year
  •  Mortuary Technician (APT) of the Year (Team or individual)
  •  The Eternal Slumber Award for Coffin Supplier of the Year
  •  Most Significant Contribution to the Understanding of Death
  •  Crematorium Attendant of the Year
  •  Best Internet Bereavement Resource
  •  The Blossom d’Amour Award For Funeral Floristry
  •  Funeral Celebrant of the Year
  •  Cemetery of the Year Award
  •  Gravedigger of the Year
  •  Best Funeral Arranger
  •  Funeral Director of the Year
  •  Best Alternative to a Hearse
  •  Lifetime Achievement Award
  •  Green Funeral Director of the Year

Anyone can nominate a person for the award. The judges will be more influenced by the quality of nominations than by the quantity.
