Miniature Hearses in Amsterdam

A new exhibition can be seen of miniature funeral hearses. The largest miniature Dutch hearse collection can be seen at the Museum Tot Zover in Amsterdam. The existing collection has recently been expanded.

There are now additional fifty-four models being exhibited. Besides the well-known German and French manufacturers are many cars of American origin.
Ever since the opening in 2007, the Amsterdam museum about the death Tot Zover, had 23 models from the collector Bert Spoelder. Yet, recently the museum received a substantial donation from the Helmond collector Gilbert de Vries. This acquisition includes 115 models of hearses. The best of these are added to the existing presentation.

The models present an overview of the rich history of the mourning transport. Besides famous cars like the Chevrolet BelAir, Cadillac Series 60 Town Car and Daimler DS420 there are also lesser known models represented, such as the Borgward Isabella, the Citroën Rosalie Corbillard, GAZ Volga 24-03 and the rare Essex hearse. In addition to that there is a 2CV with caravan for the deceased. Models of Rolls Royce, Lincoln, Packard, Studebaker and Mercedes are also present of course.
