October 2020 - Nomination of the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board
At the 50th FIAT-IFTA I.C.D. meeting in Birmingham UK, June 7, 2019, the Board and delegates have discussed options for the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Steering Committee and IAFM.
At the FIAT-IFTA Board meeting in Le Bourget, France, November 21, 2019, the President and Board members have agreed to create the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board combining the activities of the Funeral Heritage Steering Committee and the objectives of IAFM.
The budget of the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board will be allocated annually by the Treasurer of FIAT-IFTA.
Preferably the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board will convene annually at the FIAT- IFTA meeting /convention.

Short term interventions of the FIAT the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board:
- Publication of the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Report 2020.
- Further establishment of IAFM.
- Promotion of the activities of the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board.
- Internet and social media presentation.
- Instituting relations with UNESCO State parties and with ICH NGO Forum of UNESCO.
- Establishment of an inventory of Global Funeral Heritage.

June 2014 - ACCREDITATION FIAT-IFTA
International NGO Consultative Status UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

Paris 3 June 2014: Accreditation of FIAT-IFTA as International NGO Consultative Status UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee at the 5th Session of the UNESCO General Assembly of the State Parties to the Convention For the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Paris, 2 – 5 June 2014, UNESCO Headquarters.

Upon decision of the Meeting of the 34 National Members of FIAT-IFTA at the Convention held in Dusseldorf, Germany, a delegation led by 1st Vice President Mrs. Teresa Saavedra has attended the 5th Session of the UNESCO General Assembly of the State Parties to the Convention For the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On the Agenda of this meeting: item Nr. 6: Accreditation of Non Governmental Organizations to act in an advisory capacity to the Committee. FIAT-IFTA was one of the 22 Organizations nominated for accreditation. This has been the result of more than two years work in common effort of the National Members of FIAT-IFTA, the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Steering Committee, chaired by Mr. Henry Keizer and the Secretariat in the Netherlands.

Previously the UNESCO Committee Intangible Cultural Heritage had formulated the proposal to accredit FIAT-IFTA as International NGO to act in an advisory capacity to the Committee. This advise was already given at the 7th session of the Committee, Paris, 3-7 December 2012. The proposal was now submitted to the General Assembly of State Parties. Out of a total of 314 applications made since 2012, the number of 22 organizations were submitted for accreditation according to Article 9 of the Convention. The 22 non-governmental organizations that meet the criteria were listed in the Annex to the draft resolution.
Tuesday morning 3 June 2014 the General Assembly adopted item 6 of the Agenda: Accreditation of the 22 NGO’s.
Congratulations were received from the State delegation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (the FIAT-IFTA office is established in the Netherlands) from other State delegations, from the members of the NGO Forum and from several National Members.

FIAT-IFTA - NG0-90253. Quadrennial Report
As provided in paragraph 94 of the Operational Directives, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage has reviewed the quadrennial report at its 14th Session held in Bogota, Colombia 9 to 14 December 2019.
With reference to paragraphs 94 and 95 of the Operational Directives, the Committee decided to maintain the accreditation of your organization to provide advisory services to it (Decision 14.COM 17, paragraph 5).
The next quadrennial report should be submitted before 15 February 2023.
