Heritage Report 2024

August 7, 2023

Call for entries to Heritage Report 2024

We have already begun work on the next edition of the Funeral Heritage Report, which will be published in 2024. For the first time publication will be translated in to Chinese, Spanish and French.

All FIAT-IFTA members and those with knowledge of intangible funerary heritage are invited to contribute to this unique publication and submit any cultural expression within the funeral industry which you believe is important and worth sharing and preserving.

The report is part of the commitment we have with our membership with UNESCO to safeguard Intangible Funeral Cultural Heritage and helps our industry to share, learn and hopefully safeguard funeral traditions and customs associated with death, funerals and bereavement that still exist today around the world. UNESCO recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage:

  • oral traditions and expressions
  • performing arts
  • social practices, rituals and festive events
  • knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe
  • traditional craftsmanship

The deadline for submission is 31st May 2023, this enables us to review the information received, make necessary changes, translations and start working on the graphic design for publication in 2024. However, please do not wait until then. The earlier you submit the better it is.

Please send your entry to info@thanos.org or fiatifta-magazine@thanos.org

Please find below letter from Mrs Chen Yuanyuan, chair of the FIAT-IFTA Heritage Committee inviting to join Funeral Heritage Report 2024.
