The FIAT-IFTA Board of Directors hope that this training course will be the beginning of a Global Education Program that will continue in the future and foster the improvement of skills in various areas of work of funeral professionals around the world. The board hopes that this will be the first of other initiatives by its members with the aim to promote the development of the industry worldwide.

Why take part in mortuary workshops in Barcelona?

One of the main objectives within the funeral sector is to provide high quality and respectful mortuary services to the loved ones who have passed away. Thanatopraxy is a technique that focuses on preservation, sanitation and presentation of the deceased, which then allows relatives to say their last goodbye safely and with dignity. For this to happen, it is paramount that the funeral team is properly trained.

Training in embalming needs to be innovative and adapt to the specific needs of each team or professional. It is essential to highlight that the training team will be made up of internationally renowned professionals who know the ins and outs and the daily running of the funeral sector. In addition, the training will not only consist of theory, but will focus on real practice, which is key when mastering the necessary techniques of embalming.

This comprehensive training course also comprises techniques in cosmetology for the deceased, hairdressing, or cadaveric reconstruction, which are also essential for the effective delivery of Thanatopraxy. Practice and more practice, especially with real cases, is the only way to master these techniques.

When, where, how?

The course will take place in Barcelona from the 10th to the 13th of October 2023. It will include a total of 4 days (32 hours) of intensive practical work within one of the most important and busiest funeral houses in the area. Designed for a maximum of 6 participants, thus allowing for a more personalized service and a higher level of quality training.

As well as this incredible training opportunity, you will find that Barcelona is also a city which can offer a wide range of amenities for visitors, making this experience even more attractive for the interested parties. The program includes a diploma ceremony at the end of the course, where each participant will receive their own official certificate of completion, sharing their own experience.
