Funeral Heritage Reports

FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Reports published in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2020 and 2024.

At the 9th FIAT-IFTA International Convention in 2008 in Barcelona, members established the FIAT-IFTA Heritage Steering Committee. Its mission is articulated in the Charter of Global Funeral Heritage. In 2020, the committee was renamed the FIAT-IFTA Funeral Heritage Board.

The 1st Heritage Report was published in 2010, followed by subsequent reports in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2020. The 6th Heritage Report is the latest and has been published in September 2024.

Through these publications, FIAT-IFTA and IAFM aim to preserve and safeguard the Global Funeral Heritage in collaboration with other organizations. The focus is also on fostering international awareness. In partnership with National Members, numerous articles have highlighted traditions, customs, and artifacts related to death, funerals, and bereavement that persist to this day.
